Indiana University - Bloomington

Gamma Phi Beta was first founded in 1874 at Syracuse University. The women of Gamma Phi Beta strive to promote love, labor, learning, and loyalty in their everyday lives.

Scholarships

Gamma Phi Beta offers many scholarships for its women. Each semester, women who receive a semester gpa of 3.0 or higher receive a scholarship check for their hard work.

The National Foundation accepts applications for scholarships for women who receive a 3.0 gpa or higher and are in need of financial aid.

Awards

Honorable Mention at convention 2008 for the Mary A. Bingham Award which is for Excellence in recruitment, scholarship, new member education, ritual, PACE, efficiency in reporting, Panhellenic participation, campus and community activities, philanthropic activities, collegiate/alumnae relations, campus standing and quality of leadership. Beta Phi also won at convention 2008 the Most Improved Collegiate/Alumnae Relations Award. Beta Phi also recieved Honorable Mention at convention 2008 for Most Improved Financial Management Award. And lastly, in 2008 Convention, Beta Phi was a recipient of the Scholastic Excellence Award.

Organization Facts

The sorority's flower is the pink carnation because it is the longest lasting flower, and the national colors are brown and mode (dark and light brown). Gamma Phi Beta's symbol, the crescent moon, stands for the growth of our sorority and its individual members. Currently, there are approximately 148 active chapters around the country.

Stats

Gamma Phi Beta's philanthropy supports the Boys and Girls Club locally in Bloomington and Campfire USA nationally. This past spring, the women of Gamma Phi Beta raised $5,500 at their philanthropy, and $4,900 went to Boys and Girls Club while the rest was donated to Campfire USA.
